What to do if your Sigenergy system has been flooded

If floodwater has reached your Sigenergy inverter, battery, or associated switchboard equipment, do not attempt to use or restart the system. Water and high-voltage electrical equipment are extremely dangerous in combination.

Step 1 — Do not touch the system

If your property is still flooded or the water has only recently receded, stay away from the inverter and battery entirely. Even if the system appears to be off, submerged or water-damaged electrical equipment can still carry dangerous voltage.

Step 2 — Turn off power at the switchboard if safe

If your switchboard is in a dry, safe location and you can reach it without walking through water near the solar equipment, turn off the solar isolator and main switch. If there is any doubt about whether it is safe to do so, leave it and wait for emergency services or a qualified electrician.

Step 3 — Do not attempt to restart the system

Once the floodwater has receded, do not switch the system back on. Water damage to inverters and batteries is not always visible externally, and internal damage can cause fire or electric shock when power is restored.

Step 4 — Contact us for an assessment

Email us at service@brightearthsolar.com.au as soon as it is safe to do so. Let us know the extent of the flooding and which parts of the system were affected. We will arrange for a qualified technician to inspect the equipment before it is returned to service.

If the system needs to be replaced or repaired, we can also assist with documentation for insurance purposes.
