What to do if your GoodWe system has been flooded

What to do if your GoodWe system has been flooded

If floodwater has reached your GoodWe inverter, battery, or switchboard, do not attempt to restart or use the system. Water-damaged electrical equipment can carry dangerous voltages even when it appears to be off.

Step 1 — Stay away from the system

If the property is still flooded or water has only just receded, do not touch the inverter, battery, or any associated switchboard equipment. Even if the system appears inactive, submerged electrical equipment is extremely hazardous.

Step 2 — Turn off power at the switchboard if safe

If your switchboard is in a dry location and you can reach it safely without going near the flooded equipment, turn off the solar isolator and main power switch. If there is any doubt about whether it's safe to do so, leave it and wait for emergency services or a licensed electrician.

Step 3 — Do not restart the system

Once the water has receded, do not switch the system back on. Flood damage to inverters and batteries is not always visible from the outside, and switching on a water-damaged system can cause fire or electric shock.

Step 4 — Contact us for an assessment

Email service@brightearthsolar.com.au as soon as it's safe to do so. Let us know which parts of the system were affected and the extent of the flooding. We will arrange for a qualified technician to inspect everything before the system is returned to service.

We can also assist with documentation if you need to make an insurance claim.
