Meta: Learn how to download the SEMS+ app and set it up to monitor and control your GoodWe solar and battery system from your phone.
How to download and set up the SEMS+ app
The SEMS+ app is how you monitor your GoodWe system, check solar production and battery levels, view alarms, and adjust settings remotely. It’s available for both iPhone and Android.
Download the app
Search for SEMS+ in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and install it. Make sure you download SEMS+ and not an older version of the app.
Create an account
Open the app and tap Register. You’ll need a valid email address to create an account. Follow the prompts to verify your email and set a password.
If you already have an account from a previous property or system, tap Login and enter your existing credentials.
Connect to your system
Once logged in, your power station should appear on the home screen if your inverter’s smart communication stick is connected to your home WiFi. System data typically appears within a few minutes of logging in.
If the app shows your system as offline or no power station is visible, your inverter may need to be connected to your WiFi network. See our guide: How to connect your GoodWe inverter to WiFi.
What you can do in the app
From the home screen you can view live solar generation, battery state of charge, household consumption, and grid import or export. Under the Device section you can adjust inverter and battery settings, change working modes, and set backup parameters. The Alarms section shows any active faults or warnings on your system.

Meta: Step-by-step guide to connecting your GoodWe inverter to your home WiFi network using the SEMS+ app and smart communication stick.
How to connect your GoodWe inverter to WiFi
Your GoodWe inverter connects to your home WiFi through a smart communication stick — a small module that plugs into the inverter and handles the wireless connection. If your system appears offline in the SEMS+ app, the steps below will help you reconnect it.
Before you start
On your phone, open WiFi settings and confirm your home network is visible and working. If your WiFi is down, fix that first before attempting to reconnect the inverter.
Step 1 — Check the smart communication stick
Locate the smart communication stick on your inverter. It should have a small indicator light. A blue light flashing or showing solid indicates the stick is powered and functioning. If there is no light at all, the stick may not be seated correctly — try removing and reinserting it.
Step 2 — Open the SEMS+ app
Open the SEMS+ app on your phone. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone, as the app uses Bluetooth to connect to the inverter locally for configuration.
Step 3 — Connect to the inverter locally
In the app, go to the Device section and select your inverter. Choose the option to connect locally via Bluetooth. Follow the prompts to pair with your inverter’s smart communication stick.
Step 4 — Configure WiFi settings
Once connected locally, navigate to Smart Communication Stick settings and select your home WiFi network from the list. Enter your WiFi password and confirm. The stick will attempt to connect to your network.
Step 5 — Confirm connection
After a few minutes, check the SEMS+ app home screen. Your system should show as online and begin displaying live data. If it doesn’t connect, try moving your router closer to the inverter or restarting both the router and the inverter before trying again.
Still not connecting?
Email us at service@brightearthsolar.com.au with your name, address, and a description of what you’re seeing in the app and we’ll help troubleshoot from there.

Meta: Understand the indicator lights on your GoodWe inverter and battery — what each light means and when to take action or contact us.
Understanding your GoodWe indicator lights
Your GoodWe inverter and battery each have indicator lights that give you a quick read on system status. For more detailed fault information, the SEMS+ app is your primary tool — but knowing what the physical lights mean helps you spot issues at a glance.
Inverter indicator
The indicator light on the front of your GoodWe inverter shows the current operating status. During normal daytime operation it will be illuminated. If the light is off during daylight hours or behaving unusually, check the SEMS+ app for any active alarms.
Battery indicator
The battery unit has an indicator light built into the multifunction button on its front panel. This shows the battery’s operating status. If the indicator is behaving abnormally or the battery isn’t charging or discharging as expected, check the SEMS+ app for battery-specific alerts.
Smart communication stick
The smart communication stick has its own indicator. A blue light — either flashing or solid — means the stick is powered and functioning. If the light is off, the stick may not be seated correctly. If it can’t connect to your WiFi network, see our guide: How to connect your GoodWe inverter to WiFi.
For detailed fault information
The SEMS+ app is where GoodWe displays detailed fault codes and alarm descriptions. If any indicator on your system looks unusual, open the app and check the Alarms section for a specific fault code and recommended action. See our guide: How to view faults and alarms in the SEMS+ app.
When to contact us
If any indicator light is showing an unusual state and the SEMS+ app shows an active alarm that doesn’t clear, contact us at service@brightearthsolar.com.au with your name, address, and the alarm details from the app.
