How to reconnect your Alpha ESS system to WiFi

If your AlphaESS app has stopped showing data, or you have recently changed your internet provider or router, your system has most likely lost its WiFi connection. Your solar and battery will keep working normally, but monitoring will be offline until it is reconnected. Reconnecting takes about 10 minutes.

Before you start, make sure your phone is connected to your home WiFi and you have your WiFi password handy.

1. Check your internet is working on another device, such as a laptop or TV.

2. Open the AlphaESS app on your phone and sign in.

3. Go to Settings and select Network Configuration (on some versions this is called WiFi Configuration).

4. Follow the prompts to connect your phone to the system's own hotspot (its name usually starts with "Alpha").

5. Select your home WiFi network from the list, enter your WiFi password and confirm.

6. Wait a few minutes, then check the app shows your system as online again. It can take up to 15 minutes for data to reappear.

Please note: some AlphaESS systems connect through a small WiFi dongle plugged into the inverter. If your system has one and it will not reconnect after following the steps above, the dongle itself may need replacing - contact us and we can help.
