How to power off and restart your GoodWe system
How to power off and restart your GoodWe system
There are two situations where you might need to power your GoodWe system off and back on — routine troubleshooting, or preparing for maintenance. Follow the steps below carefully. The order of shutdown and startup matters for the safety of the equipment.
Powering off the system
- Disconnect the BACK-UP circuit breaker in your switchboard.
- Disconnect the GRID circuit breaker in your switchboard.
- Press and hold the multifunction button on your battery unit for 5 seconds until the battery powers off. If you have multiple battery units, doing this on one will power off all of them — you don't need to do each one separately. Then disconnect the battery isolation switch.
- If your system has a DC switch on the inverter, disconnect it.
After powering off, wait at least 5 minutes before restarting. Internal components need time to fully discharge.
Restarting the system
Restart in the reverse order of shutdown:
- If the DC switch was disconnected, switch it back on.
- Reconnect the battery isolation switch.
- Reconnect the GRID circuit breaker.
- Reconnect the BACK-UP circuit breaker.
Allow a few minutes for the system to come back online fully. Check the SEMS+ app to confirm the system is operating normally.
Battery black start (emergency off-grid startup)
If there is no grid power and no solar generation, your system normally cannot start. However, the battery has a black start function — press and hold the battery multifunction button for 2 seconds to start the battery system independently. This puts the inverter into off-grid mode and allows the battery to power your backup loads until grid or solar power is restored.
When not to restart
Do not attempt to restart the system if you can smell burning, see smoke, or notice signs of overheating near the inverter or battery. Contact us immediately at service@brightearthsolar.com.au.
